Do you see the CenturyLink.net every time you open your browser or a new tab? Do you get redirected back it all the time? If so, it is safe to say that your computer is no longer infection-free. CenturyLink.net page`s appearance is a warning that you have a cyber threat on board. A browser hijacker, to be exact. Hijackers are something you would want to deal with. All they do is irritate you, mess with your machine and expose you to malware. The more time they spend in your system the more problems they cause. And these problems escalate very quickly. Trust us when we say that once the hijacker goes out of control it is a lot harder to tackle it. Don’t wait for that to happen. Act as soon as you spot the CenturyLink.net site. The hijacker uses it as a front but you should take it as a warning. Find where the pest is hiding and delete it once and for all. Don’t sit around to experience its shenanigans as they are many.
Once the infection gets in, it wastes no time but begins its work immediately. First is, as we said, the CenturyLink.net website which all of a sudden become your constant online companion. You see it all the time along with other just as shady pages. Also, your previous homepage and search engine are now replaced with CenturyLink.net as well. Of course, your permission was neither needed nor required. The hijacker doesn’t need your approval. It makes reshuffles as it sees fit and what it worse that you cannot change them back. You just open your browser one day to find that nothing is the same, including your browsing experience. You are no longer able to search the Web without being interrupted.
You cannot visit any pages as you are constantly redirected back to CenturyLink.net or another unknown page. Moreover, your PC screen is flooded with all kinds of advertisements. Pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, video ads, offers, deals, best prices, coupons, etc. They are blinking in front of your eyes 24/7 prompting you to click them open. Do not do that, no matter what. The chances are, they are corrupted and laced with more malware infections. You can compromise your machine further with a single click. Your click equals your approval. If you don’t stay away from the commercials you will find your PC brimming with treats in no time. You have to restrain yourself from anything the hijacker generates. The pages you land on, the ads, all of it. Even if something looks helpful, skip it! You will only worsen your already unpleasant situation.
Aside from the numerous ads and redirects, you also experience show PC speed, frequent system crashes, browser freezes, unstable Internet connection, etc. And when you add to this equation the security risk the hijacker brings, thing get even worse. The pest threatens your identifiable and financial information. It spies on you and your every online move. It has access to all kinds of data of your and not only that. If it has access, the crooks have access to. That’s right. The hijacker catalogs everything and hands it over to the people behind it. But they are cybercriminals. Are you willing to trust them with your private data? If not, delete the parasite now. To do so manually, use our removal guide at the end of this article.
Another important thing you should now, though, is how the hijacker entered without you realizing. Well, these infections are masters when it comes to trickery and deception. So, that’s what they so. They need your permission do they dope you into agreeing on their installment AND leave you oblivious to it. They don’t that openly, of course. And that’s why you don’t remember giving the pest green light. A hijacker could pose as a fake update to trick you. Or, it can hide in malicious spam email attachments, compromised pages or ads.
Always be extra careful on what you click and what you are giving you approval to. What all Infections need the most is your carelessness. Don’t make it easier for them to infect you by being negligent. It is always easier to prevent a cyber threat from attacking you that to deal with it later.
